Our station is located in the Village of Kalida and we cover a response area of 79 square miles, including the Village of Kalida and areas of five surrounding townships to include Greensburg, Jackson, Perry, Sugar Creek, and Union.
Our response area serves a population of 6,329. The KVFD is comprised of 35 volunteer members with years of service that range from one year to over 30 years. Our response area contains residential properties, light and heavy manufacturing areas, several bulk grain storage facilities, agricultural supply and equipment businesses, nursing care facilities, medical services, government buildings, two school buildings housing K-5 and 6-12 students, multiple churches, and the Putnam County Historical Museum.
In addition to our primary mission of responding to emergencies, KVFD is active in providing a Community Risk Reduction Program that includes fire safety education programs for local pre-schools and the Kalida Local School District. Additionally, we are active in performing fire safety inspections at the many businesses throughout our response area. The goal of the Kalida Volunteer Fire Department is to safely protect the citizens and property of our response area and to provide automatic/mutual aid to our surrounding fire districts.
